“As a cultural worker who belongs to an oppressed people my job is to make revolution irresistible.” ~Toni Cade Bambara
“It is the ‘Not seeing / Not hearing / Not feeling / The timeplace yet to be’ that keeps us mired in place. Easily resolved! Let us see! Let us hear. Let us feel.” ~Norma Wong
This world is quickly careening towards collapse. The systems as we’ve known them are falling away, and new possibilities…a new horizon is being called forth.
Everything around us is the product of somebody’s / somebodies’ imagination. All of our systems, the ways we organize our day-to-day lives, our laws, values, beliefs… All of it came from someone’s imagination. So, all of it–especially those things that cause great harm to our human communities and to our Earth–can be reshaped and reconstructed according to our most beautiful and radical imaginations.
A radically imagined horizon makes the revolution irresistible. It shifts our motivation from fear to joyous anticipation.
And yet, when we’re in the thick of it, it’s hard to see the horizon. We have our backs turned to it, because we’re busy pushing through the darkness and the muck. Our sense of what’s possible has been diminished by what’s in front of us.
I support community-based organizations, movement spaces, government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and academic and cultural institutions in turning towards the light, tapping into their powers of imagination to envision a new horizon.
Services
Radical Imagination Spaces
- Using the powerful technologies of the arts and storytelling combined with years of facilitation “juju” I create safe spaces for groups to play and envision new horizons for themselves, their oganizations, their communities, their worlds.
- Through strategy sessions, I support groups in turning vision to action.
Liberatory coaching
- Through liberatory coaching, I support communities in holding the vision through the inevitable return of doubt–when the old systems and habits of thinking return and push back.
